The best of all is cash, preferably paid via paypal. People love money: once they have it, they can do whatever they like. Other interesting options are Gift Cards (like Amazon or some other online store that ships worldwide) or Software licenses (useful and attractive, of course). Don’t forget to include more than one prizes, to reward more people. The Rules Make it easy. Don’t ask your readers to do multiple complicated tasks to enter. A point system competitions (to increase the odds of winning) is a good choice, but don’t exaggerate. The most important think: state clear rules and absolutely don’t change them during the contest time. In your blog contest announcement post include the entry deadline (not too long), the entry methods, if it’s open worldwide and how the winners will be selected (random is best). The Promotion Spread the word. Once started, you have to promote your blog contest. Through your blog, using a particular banner and reminding regularly, and also from the outside.
